QUESTIONS: Is commercial surrogacy altruism or selling humans?

I recently read a headline that commercial surrogacy pits progressives against feminists. Is it altruism or exploitation - or something else? While countries like Sweden have banned it, New York lifted its ban. Tomorrow my guest is a currently pregnant surrogate who I met at the YMCA. She is willing to talk about this issue and answer your questions. Please leave them below. Obviously the article attached here is biased but it gives an opposite perspective from what you’ll hear tomorrow.

How we fixed our dense bread problem

Making fresh milled, whole grain bread at home can be challenging but it’s so worth it! We made several dense loaves before we got it right. The most important trait in a successful bread maker is persistence. So don’t give up! Here are a few tricks we have learned along the way. Hope it helps. I know many of you are far beyond the beginnner stage so please share your tips as well! There is nothing better than warm bread, fresh out of the oven, with a nice big slab of butter, even if it’s not perfect. 🧈 As my grandmother, Ruth Morrow, used to say, “Even my failures are edible.”

Kids did their first rodeo - yeehaw!

The kids did their first rodeo today! Their event was “goat undressing on foot.” They have to catch a goat and grab a ribbon of its tail, throw the ribbon in a bucket and raise their hands to stop the clock. It seems grabbing the rope is the best strategy, then use that to shimmy toward the goat. The real winner was the crowd- who doesn’t love watching kids chase a goat in circles? Lily’s time was around 24 seconds, Jack’s was about 13 seconds.

Running errands with cow blood sample

I had to get a blood sample from our (hopefully pregnant) dairy cow, Maisy, to the post office, but wanted to hit the gym on the way. So, the blood came in a cooler (which I won in a feed store raffle) and hung out in my passenger seat. I think you hit the pro farmer world when you can say you’ve driven around with animal blood in your car while running errands. All in a day’s work!

Hi! Curious to know if people in other areas than mine, Chicago suburbs, have a lot of people wearing masks. I know a lot of people that wear masks, not because they are afraid of getting Covid or other sickness, but because they are sick and think they need to wear them to keep other people from getting sick.
