After a drought this Spring, during which we had to feed our cows an exorbitant amount of hay, we are grateful to be back to Florida’s predictable afternoon thunderstorms even if it means grocery store rain delays.

We bought 3 types of butter recently because I want you to see the difference in color based on the cow’s diet. This is important because there are some loud voices in conventional agriculture that say “calories are calories”, doesn’t matter whether the cow eats donuts or grass. The focus is on volume and production, not on nutritional benefits for the cow and thereby the human.

It’s obvious looking at these three types of butter that more fresh grass equals a darker colored butter. So what does that mean? The darker yellow means more beta carotene. Beta carotene is a precursor to vitamin A, and supports vision along with immune function. I have also read that it protects skin from oxidative stress. Additionally, more fresh grass translates into more vitamin K2 in the butter. K2 is very important for our body’s ability to absorb calcium into bones and teeth, so it does not deposit in soft tissue or arteries.

The CDC says lettuce from Taco Bell that originated in Mexico is linked to a parasite-caused, explosive diarrhea outbreak in the Midwest. Of course no health official or media outlet is telling people NEVER to eat salad again. But when raw milk makes headlines, that’s exactly what we see. The reality is that there are health benefits in raw foods. Eating anything is a risk. If you want to take your risk at Taco Bell, go ahead, I stand by your freedom to do so. I am not on any "side". But I remember when privacy minded folks were against Real ID. Now, some who claim to be privacy minded promote something far worse. Nothing currently in use nationally will satisfy all "requirements". Because nothing in a single form validates both "citizenship" and present primary residency. It will require what some claim to be against. A new Digital ID.

This makes gerrymandering look like fairness. It will cost many citizens more than a poll tax in personal expense. And they'll need more aptitude than a reading test to fully understand it.
