Welcome to the free state of Florida, unless you’re a citizen going up against developers - then we welcome you to shove that Slurpee straw in your big yapper and shut up.
Our efforts to stop a cell tower from going up next to our farm have given me quite the education in how our county works. We are at the epicenter of development with highways and strip malls and housing developments at every turn. It has been mind-boggling to see how the “process” works when citizens challenge their government - now as one of those citizens and not a TV reporter filing a story about it all. To say the “game is rigged” does not seem to encapsulate how it all works. I used to tell people that if you’re exhausted by national politics - get involved locally where you can make a difference. Now I’m not so sure.
Anyway, public pressure does still seem to have a role. If you’d like to help us stop the cell tower, please send a quick email to [email protected] and write, “I oppose the Blue Sky cell tower application CU-2026-00003. Please deny the conditional use permit.” Thank you to everyone who has done so! We truly appreciate it.

“Big Cell Phone” or as I call it, the Cellular Industrial Complex, will have its day of reckoning in the not too distant future. I try to keep mine 6-ft away when not in use and turn it on airplane mode at night (while also keeping it in another room). Remember friends, there was a point in time where none of us had cell phones and we survived. I recognize that our society is stacked around it all now, but you can still take a break.
We are trying to a cell tower from going up right next to our farm and could use your help, no matter where you live. Please send a quick email to [email protected] and write “I oppose the Blue Sky cell tower CU-2026-00003. Please deny the conditional use permit.”
I try to get a lot of omega 3s in my diet to reduce oxidative stress - like what’s caused by RF radiation. I love the fermented cod liver/concentrated butter oil from @greenpastureproducts which has been part of my daily routine for 15 years. I ...
Remember when herding animals required manual labor? Actually we were shooting video but the animals thought it was the end of the world and ran straight for the barn. It was the fastest feeding time on record, maybe we use the drone more often?!
Don’t forget to keep your shepherd energy supply high with good nutrition. We take the fermented cod liver/concentrated butter oil from @greenpastureproducts everyday because it is packed with vitamins A, D & K along with anti-inflammatory omega 3s. It’s fermented instead of high heat processed like most fish oils. Grab some with promo code “ALISON” and you get 10% off. https://greenpasture.org/
I wasn’t a committed homeschool mom from the second my first child was born. I did quite a bit of research because I wanted to learn more about how kids learn - and truly what kind of environments are not just best for learning ABCs but for overall health and development. I wasn’t even sure I would be a good teacher. After reading many books written by education “experts”, we landed on homeschool.
I really had to unravel quite a bit of what I thought was “school” before I could even begin. I went to the same private school K-12 and equated learning with perfect exam scores. As a student, I forgot a lot of what I crammed into my head because I wasn’t learning for the joy of it - I was learning to survive.
I have come to see how much a child learns through simply living - and being bored! They are innately attuned to art, nature, science, nutrition, play, language - if only we give them a chance. I have truly loved homeschooling my kids, especially all the time we get to spend...
