Sometimes horses need a spa day too. We recently treated Sassy with a hoof soak for white line disease. This is a bacterial infection in the white line part of the hoof. It is not serious unless the hoof cracks so severely it renders the horse lame. To treat Sassy we used Clean It, a powder that is added to water, put in a bag, then you stick your horse’s hoof in the bag. It has to stay there for 45 minutes. Then you dump the water and do another 45 minutes in the bag for the vapor stage. It releases hypochlorous acid, which is the same substance white blood cells release to fight infections. Sassy is back to “normal”, which I use lightly because our farm is anything but normal! 🤪
It would be easy to think Sassy’s behavior is accidental but I’ve watched her for 33-years now and she is excellent at sending messages in her own language. The other day I cleaned the goat stalls and put brand new shaving in them - only to have Sassy go right into one of them and lay a massive poop. Then, after I cleaned that, she pooped again right in the goat feed dish. Any guesses what she’s trying to communicate?

I have used this bread recipe so many times, I could make it in my sleep now. I got it from The Sweet Simple Things website but I changed honey to maple syrup. I’ll put their link in the comments. I have a sourdough starter ready to go, so I will be moving into sourdough territory soon. However, this is a great, simple and quick recipe if you need bread within a few hours. If you have bread recipe you use often, please share in the comments! Also I am looking for an easy sourdough recipe for freshly ground whole wheat flour.
