Our efforts to stop a cell tower from going up next to our farm have given me quite the education in how our county works. We are at the epicenter of development with highways and strip malls and housing developments at every turn. It has been mind-boggling to see how the “process” works when citizens challenge their government - now as one of those citizens and not a TV reporter filing a story about it all. To say the “game is rigged” does not seem to encapsulate how it all works. I used to tell people that if you’re exhausted by national politics - get involved locally where you can make a difference. Now I’m not so sure.

“Big Cell Phone” or as I call it, the Cellular Industrial Complex, will have its day of reckoning in the not too distant future. I try to keep mine 6-ft away when not in use and turn it on airplane mode at night (while also keeping it in another room).
