Sorry to share (very belatedly) that Freckles the horse died earlier this year. I wanted to take my time with the video about him (you can take the girl out of the newsroom but you can’t take the newsroom out of the girl). Here’s my best effort to share the story of Freckles. The USA beef herd is at its lowest since the 1950s as ranchers are selling off their breeding cows in large part due to drought. We drove 90 minutes to Central Florida yesterday to go peach picking at a friend’s farm and then stopped to get feed and hay on the way home. We were gone all day, and the goats must have sensed something. I came out to do farm chores this morning, and noticed the hallway to the barn was filled with water. At first, I figured it had something to do with the rain we got last night, but I quickly saw that the hose was turned on, and likely had been spraying water for hours.
