Outplacement firm Challenger, Gray and Christmas reports 2,681 newsroom jobs were cut in 2023. That number was included in data about media companies generally, which made over 20,000 cuts. That's the highest since 2020.

The neighborhood is a little quieter this week after local schools started back up again. We homeschool, so on the “first day of school” yesterday, we visited our friend’s farm and milked her huge Brown Swiss cow. We took so many “classes” in that short 30 minutes.
