Food banks see surge in kids and one is giving more than a meal

#FoodBanks #Covid #Comics Food programs across the country have seen an overwhelming increase in need due to the Covid pandemic, and that has included a surge in children. One food program in Portland, the Northeast Emergency Food Program, has paired with local comic book store, Excalibur Comics, to give kids free comic books with their meal boxes. The program, Comics for Kids, was started as a partnership thanks to Justin Zimmerman, a Portland graphic novel artist.

“Back to school” with Ms. Emmy the Cow

The neighborhood is a little quieter this week after local schools started back up again. We homeschool, so on the “first day of school” yesterday, we visited our friend’s farm and milked her huge Brown Swiss cow. We took so many “classes” in that short 30 minutes. Science, math, spelling, nutrition, even gym class!
