We milked our first goat six months ago and got about 4 ounces a day. Today, we needed two large mason jars to contain it all. For those who know the triumph, I don’t need to say anything else. I have no experience with farm animals other than my 32 year old horse. I had merely looked at goats before 2023. When we moved to Florida there were 2 goats on the property so I decided, why not? I’ll just figure it out. The art and joy of “just figuring it out” are nearly lost on us in this technocratic world, but I challenge you to find something that intrigues you, that produces something tangible, and go for it. Making bread. Sewing. Woodworking. Raising chickens. Mountain climbing. Painting. Just figure it out. I promise it’ll be worth it. And if you’ve already done this - let me know in the comments the most “random” trade you’ve conquered with no prior experience. I’m off to have a cold glass of raw milk! 🥛

We came back from the beach today to find TWO MORE baby goats! Our last and final doe, Peter’s firstborn, gave birth (daddy is Tod, our other buck). We have 7 babies total now. Taking orders! 🤣🙈

Maine's controversial "chicken bill" was proposed as a way to "protect" the right to have backyard chickens, but it had several specific rules like how many chickens you can have (36) and how much space they need in your coop (4 square ft per chicken). It has allegedly been amended after uproar from locals but I have yet to see the new language.
