Well folks, Youtube needs 24 hours to verify our off Gridish living channel so we were unable to live stream on it. Thus, I had to use my main channel. (I would have just done it here but I wanted an easy to download video to upload and share. Locals is still a little bit complex in that arena.) Enjoy and thanks for all the Sassy birthday wishes. The Producer and I made her a carrot cake and Sassy’s horse sitters came to celebrate. It was a fun afternoon!
Did you know that chickens love milk? Whenever our goats knock over a jar while we are milking them, we give the remainder to the chickens as a treat. They go crazy for it. It has a lot of protein, which gives them a boost for winter nutrition, and calcium, which is great for strengthening egg shells. Raw milk is also given to chickens at times to aid with gut disorders because of the beneficial bacteria and enzymes. Plus, our chickens just love it! Anyone else do this?
Our hens decided to take holiday break starting around Halloween. So today I gave them a pep talk and let them know that they may have made it to Thanksgiving but free-loader soup is on the menu for Christmas.
I got a real chuckle out of this one. A sweet 4H teen agreed to help milk our goat while we visit my parents for Thanksgiving. I noticed right away we’d have a bit of a challenge, given the 2 inch long acrylic nails. She just had them done and said, “I haven’t had nails in 3 years!” Perfect timing. 🤣We tested them out. This is why I never have nice nails and had one person comment, “you look like you play hockey.”
