Pfizer (sponsor of the Oscars) has a new treatment for exactly the condition that got so much attention after Chris Rock’s joke about Jada Pinkett Smith - prompting Will Smith to slap him and scream threats. Do you think it was staged or real? And what about this guy’s take: coincidence, conspiracy or obvious? For me, the speculation around this once again reinforces my answer on a podcast yesterday, in which the host asked why I want to homestead: because I have come to realize that if I want to know something for sure, I need to see it outside my window and grow it with my own hands. “All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages.” (Shakespeare)
We are two days away from our cell tower hearing before the Citrus County Planning & Development Commission. I am representing our neighborhood and over the last several months I have had to become an attorney, RF engineer, community activist, journalist, land use planner - all while living the wife, mom and farm life.

We made the deadline to get in our presentation to STOP the cell tower proposed right next to our farm. Taking on telecom is not for the faint of heart - or really anyone with anything better to do. It’s a full time job and has been a real challenge for me both mentally and spiritually. But I am already grateful for the learning experience and for all of the help I’ve received along the way.

Maisy and Mommy Cow were separated all summer at their respective bull camps. We re-introduced them over the weekend. It did not go exactly as we had planned. But everybody is OK!

It’s the night before I go up against TMobile and their cell tower attorney. I will be representing our neighborhood in an effort to stop a 185-ft cell tower from going up right next to our farm. The applicant wants to build higher than limitations allow so they’re asking for a conditional use permit. We are presenting why they have legally not met the requirements for one.
Preparing to stand up to telecom - a multi trillion dollar industry - has required I grow mentally, spiritually and physically in ways I could not have imagined 6 months ago and for that I am grateful. I trust that God is with me and I am releasing the outcome to Him minute-by-minute. This has been one of the most arduous journeys I’ve ever taken but I will finish the race tomorrow and then I will give my family a big hug. Perhaps I will take a nice slow trail ride on Sassy when we get home.
