Thanks to Jason for inviting me on the Intellectual People Podcast. If you're interested in how my childhood influenced my career, definitely check it out!
A reporter at WSAZ, the NBC affiliate in Huntington, West Virginia, was hit by a car on live television. She was alone in the dark without a photographer which is more and more common as a cost-cutting mechanism in TV news. I discuss how this "one man band" phenomenon has affected journalism as a whole, since I did it for many years.

Thanks for submitting your questions for Shelley Luther, this was an interesting discussion! If you don't remember, she is the Dallas salon owner who re-opened despite Covid mandates requiring salons stay closed. She was jailed for 48 hours because she refused to "apologize".
I am interviewing a spokesperson for the US Freedom Flyers, which has challenged vaccine mandates on behalf of pilots, flight attendants and passengers. Any questions? "Our mission is to promote informed consent and defend individual medical freedom through preserving citizen’s rights to work and travel without governmental obstruction. We accomplish our vision of medical freedom by engaging, informing, defending, and mobilizing in alliance with HFDF to preserve our Constitutionally protected rights."
A Locals subscriber suggested a video dispelling common myths about journalism. I think it’s a great idea! One I’ll discuss is how people say “they repeat big Pharma talking points because that’s where they get all their money!” The truth is IVE NEVER heard a journalist say “guys, I know we should be more critical BUT Pfizer pays our salaries.” Those that realize the influence of Big Pharma are aware enough to think critically. As I’ve said before, there are far more Storm Troopers than Darth Vaders. What else do you or others assume about journalism?
Shelley Luther is my guest today. I'll be asking about what happened when she was jailed for refusing to shut down her salon during Covid but also her recent comments cited in this article. What questions do you have?
